2 months

We have reached 2 months! Gabriel went in for his well baby check and did great with his first round of immunizations! He weighs in at 10lbs 3 oz, and 22 7/8 inches! Yay Gabriel! Way to grow!
We have gotten a lot of really great gifts, many of them are ones that are so precious to me. One of those gifts is a "Karen Carson Original". She sews the most beautiful things, and I was so excited when we got a package from her with this blanket. It goes perfectly with his room! Thank you so much!
I am sure you have heard me refer to my Houdini child. Well, here is my proof. Gabriel loves to sleep with his arms up over his head, and at first we tried swaddling him. He would fight and fight until he got his arms free. Then we discovered the amazing invention called the sleep sack. It seemed like finally we could keep his little arms warm. But no... not this baby. He was bound and determined one day to get his arm free. So I found him with one arm sticking out the neck of his sleeper! How do you do it! He is one amazing baby!

Our "Little" Flower Girl

Jon and I have been married for about 2 1/2 years now. I know it really isn't all that long, but it feels like we have always been married. It is hard to remember what life was like without Jon right there with me. (And because I tell Jon all of my stories from before we were married over and over, I am sure he feels like he was there too!) Every once in a while I like to pull out the wedding pictures or listen to the recording of the ceremony. While Grace was here visiting, I pulled out her flower girl dress so she could remember my wedding with me. She was so excited to see it and wanted to try it on again. So this 5 year old went and tried on the dress she wore when she was 3. It fit! It is much shorter on her than it used to be, but still my little flower girl twirled around in her dress just like she had 2 1/2 years ago! Thank you Grace for not growing up to fast and letting me see my flower girl all dressed up again!

Aunts and Uncle and Cousins... oh my!

Auntie Roo came by for a quick visit

Always good to let the sleeping baby sleep.

There have been some technical difficulties. Our delightful computer has had Gabriel picture overload, and from time to time refuses to upload more pictures and videos. So, for the last week I have been sweet talking to it, telling it what a great computer it is, how we adore it greatly... and today it let me upload the pictures! Yay! So, here is photographic evidence that Gabriel got in some good extended family time.

Gabriel's Tummy Time!

For a change of pace, Jon is posting today.  Gabriel had his two month checkup today, and that all went great, we will put up details later, I just want to make sure I have all those details straight.  Details aren't my thing.  Lately Gabriel has been doing very well with his tummy time.  He is really building up muscles, so that he can lay with his head propped up for long periods of time now.  He is also getting to be very good at rolling over!  He can now roll from his stomach to his back.  This is a little video of clips of him rolling, since he rolls so fast it is hard to get 1 good shot of it.

8 weeks?

I really have to stop blinking. Every time I do, Gabriel grows a little more. Thankfully, his newborn pants still fall off his little hind end. (Guess which parent he has to thank for that!) All of his other newborn clothes have been packed away, never to be worn by Gabriel again. The only thing I have to console myself is the whole drawer of new clothes that are a little larger but still so cute on him. I think he secretly enjoys trying out the new clothes too because he has been going through several outfits in a day lately.
Next week is the dreaded 2 month check-up. It is at this check-up that he gets the first round of vaccines. But it is also the check-up that we have been looking forward to so we can find out just how much he has grown. We keep getting asked how big he is now, but our bathroom scale is not the most reliable. (Which makes my previous post all the more fun.) Any guesses on his current weight? After next Wednesday we will know for sure!

Our baby weight...

Disclaimer: This post is not really about Gabriel. I am taking a slight break this one time, to talk about Jon and I. I just want you to be prepared.
My baby and Jon's food baby
On our way to the hospital
Since last April we have been gaining weight. Notice I say we. I delivered a 7lb baby. Jon is still waiting to deliver his food baby. (Another disclaimer, I did check with Jon before writing and posting this blog. And 'food baby' is his own term.) Jon is such a supportive husband, that when we found out we were pregnant, he started gaining weight with me. In fact, at first he gained more than I did. I distinctly remember at one Dr.'s appointment being told that I needed to have an extra brat for 4th of July. Well... I ate that brat. So did Jon. And apparently took the advice a little to well. I also remember at a later Dr.'s appointment being asked if I had been eating at McDonalds lately. Of course not! Jon and I had been making late night runs to Wendys on the way home from work. Who would deny a pregnant woman a Frosty and Jr. Bacon Cheeseburger? So, needless to say, Jon and I both have some "baby fat" to lose. Both of us are in weddings this summer/fall and ironically, we both would like to lose about 30lbs. And we both have a bit of a competitive nature. Thats right. We are racing. Whoever loses the 30lbs first gets $50 to spend however we would like. I share this with you because although we are competitive... we also need motivation to get going sometimes. So, feel free to ask us how we are doing. We may need it along the way.
As for those grandparents who have heard enough about Jon and I and just need their Gabriel time... I will add a video for you. =0)

7 weeks!

Somehow it happened. My baby boy is now as big as the bear! He has been growing so much, and I am certain that he grows the most on Tuesdays and Wednesdays while I am at work. I come home and it feels like too much has changed while I am gone. Did I mention that I am so glad I am only working part time now?

Gabriel is smiling so much more, and even has a new trick he likes to pull on Daddy. Just as Jon goes to lay Gabriel down for a nap and give him his pacifier - Gabriel gives him an ear to ear grin which just makes Jon want to pick him back up again and play with him some more. Tricky kid!

This upcoming week we get to see all of the aunts and uncles. Auntie Roo is coming this weekend for Super Awesome Cousin Adventure 3.0 but will also make time to stop by to see Gabriel, too. Then next Tuesday Uncle Dan, Aunt Jana, Grace and Silas are coming for a our final hooraw together before they go back to Africa.  The next time that Gabriel gets to see his cousins he will be a 3 year old, almost as old as Silas is now! To be honest, ever since I found out we were having a boy I have been watching Silas more closely, wondering how much he and Gabriel will be alike. I am willing to be patient though, and just love being with 3 year old Silas and almost 2 month old Gabriel now.

Smiles

Mommy is not the only one who tries to catch Gabriels cuteness on video.

Excuses, excuses...

My excuse for not getting more on the blog lately is that first of all, our computer decided it did not want to read our card from our camera, so I couldn't get the pictures loaded. My second excuse is that this week I had to go back to work. Granted, it was only 2 days, but just think of the blogging I could have done in those 2 days! =0) So, I do have some catching up to do. Gabriel has grown, and is now fitting into some 0-3month clothes. It is fun to have different size clothes to put him in (more options) but he is looking so big! Thankfully this past week we saw a friend and her 4 month old baby. After seeing the 4 month old, Gabriel looked like my little baby boy again!

Auntie Roo was here last week and decided she HAD to buy something for her favorite nephew. Although he isn't quite big enough yet to get the shoes she really wants to get him, we couldn't leave the store without the fun Dr. Suess outfit. It was so fun to get to hang out with her for a day. We went shopping at all the big stores, Target and Wal-Mart. (It is a big deal when growing up we had to travel to Madison to get to the nearest Target!) We also spent some quality time watching a classic - Boy Meets World. So much fun. Now Gabriels new favorite pastime is to wear his "One fish, two fish" outfit and read his Dr. Suess book from Grandpa and Grandma Eads.
